I first started capturing her storytelling using the video mode on our digital camera, around about April, but she soon refused to let me film her. So I tried writing her stories while she told them, using pen and paper. That lasted for only a few stories too, before she caught on. Since then, I've been recording her using a mini MP3 recorder, which is pretty unobtrusive, and transcribing the audio later. She then objected strongly to this as well... Nowadays I use a combo of MP3 and video to record her before transcribing. I only manage to record a fraction of the stories she tells. I always have a backlog of stories on the recorder that still need transcribing, as it's impossible for me to keep up with her. To help new readers, I've marked my favourite stories with a star (*), so at least you have somewhere to start if you don't know where to begin. Don't forget to check the older archives too - there are some gems in there as well!

The Surprise Present, 2007-09-08*

I love how she builds up the suspense in this story with the surprise present - you have to hear her tell it to really appreciate it.

Listen to Bethany tell this story HERE.

I want you to listen! You have to sit down.

Corin lived in a long long village where a BANG came, then everybody SAW someone was there coming near them - it was a monster.

Chapter 14. With Aladar Corin.

With Aladar Corin was a monster. He scared everybody. Also Aladar and Corin and T-Rex and Tyrannosaurus and Pish and Corin and Pith and Corip, Piff and Corin and Chorin and Pith and Corythosaurus and Corip and Geem and Corip and Sikh, Seagull and Torin. He.. He was… he was… Chapter Fiveteen.

Chapter Fifteen. With Aladar Corin.

Aladar Corin was VERY VERY disappointed. “Are you disappearing?” he said.

“Aladar, I WILL get you to Turin Lane (?). And you been very naughty today. And all your friends have GONE away, and you have to be with lessons.”

“Aww, sorry ma… sorry mommy. I will be drink… I have to drink and go away.” He goed away for a second. Then he didn’t come back.

“COME ON! I GOT A SURPRISE FOR YOU!” said his mommy.

“What surprise is it?” he come back and said. “What sort of surprise do you got for me?” he asked.

“It’s a Nineown that you never seen before. I will open it for you.” So she opened it.

“Huhh!” Then he saw!

He get open it. Then he get to open ANOTHER one! And everybody saw!

Then Corin said, “Huhhh! A present??” He take it. Then Aladar shared with him. THEN, thank. So he let. THEN, he let another one.

Then someone said, “Is this a nice place?” he said, in a gloomily. In a nine place.

“It’s just a nice moonlight (laughs loudly). It my present, it’s Pin. Pin my present, but he‘s very small for now. He will grow bigger if I turn him to a Norip.”

Then he let there was Norip, when it grown up, and he became bigger and bigger like he friends.

So they walked and walked with Aladar’s per monkey, whose name was that they don’t know. Without a court, but with a sharp thing that Aladar Corin don’t know.

Aladar said, “It’s a poem that my monkey is holding.”

“Ah, maybe I don’t know the thing that you just said to me.” And they left.

“I WILL CLEAN!!!” He calmed back with a sword. Keep… keep… keep and Jill and thing and Ping and Pink and T-Rex and Pish and Chorin and T-Rex and Corin and Aladar and Jill. They all Aladar Corin’s friends.

Kip said, “I WON’T DO THIS! I WON’T DO THIS!!! I WON’T DO THIS! I WON’T DO THIS! I won‘t do this. I won‘t do this. I won‘t do this. I won‘t do this. I won‘t do this. I won‘t do this. I won‘t do this. I WON’T DO THIS! I WON’T DO THIS! I won‘t do this. I won‘t do this. I won‘t do this. I won‘t do this. I won‘t do this. I won‘t do this. I will hide, I will hide, I will hide…” (Collapses into laughter).

Without a Home, 2007-09-08

They shouldn’t. The Nineown Open Plains. There be no vultures. Corin without.
The Nineown Open Plains. (Indecipherable phrase).
The Nineown Open Plains. Shift, Aladar. Illustrations by Aladar.

“Dear old friend, I declare you to come.”

Corin was living in a dark orip pin, that led to the darkest very deep narrow no one dare go there, not go near it because there was monster.

“Dear old friend, I declare you to come to my highness.”

“(High squeaky voice, chanting) Am I nine peek, am I nine peek, nine own peek… the end.”

Chapter One. Without a Home.

Without a home, he was very disappointing in the stuff. He sleep again than to go out and play in the garden. And he was very angry indeed. He said, “Mype? Can you go without it? And my upbeat(?) is this belly button, so you have to go on my belly button please.”

They went, and went in his belly button. Then was worried, will wipe it though, we with bad germs and stuff. They was only with Orin.

Chapter Two. Without a Home.

Corin lunged, they didn’t look quite the hurry. And they were VERY disappointed, and Aladar disappointed and DIP disappointed and ALADAR disappointed. He was very different, in dust were some trees (???).

Chapter Three. Without a Home.

WITHOUT out a hurry, he was living in a little cottage. And the others said, “Up up up. And up and up. Up up up.”

“I shouldn’t do this.”

“Up up up.”

“THERE will be no hurry without my Corin please. I will be with you there.” Only Norin away from pain. He chuckled around, and Norin didn’t look for the orange Orin. But he have to be with it, and only a noise came from the banging and probably will be with it. The sound will us will be with it but Dean(?) own end. He will be without, out it. He will be without it. And let out it was VERY VERY disappointed, his stuff, Corin. “(In an undertone) Corin did eat my Panadol…”

“He very..”

“Sssh!”

“Hmm.. Can we make one, another one to come? Please brachiosaurus. Please, can we make another one to come with us?”

“Nope… err… sorry.”

“But what about try again? Please try again, please. Please try again, please. That’s how is it.”

Of Orin, Orip, Norin, Corin and others, 2007-09-07

OK, this story is very confusing because she’s not only started using a bunch of names she made up for her characters, but also a bunch of words she’s made up that mean things she’s assigned them to mean - some of these words are her own invented words, but others are actually English words that she uses in her own way.

“We haven’t. We haven’t do watch it yet,” he said, from my right picking out the icon that they have load before their time. They haven’t do it before.

They kept in the lake, then it was full of tread marks, then they stepped out it. Their feet was not wet. They were wearing slippers, and very deep end pond. It was Orip said. Orip was living in Orin’s new house. He did encourage them, because he was sick and soon tell the others. He was living in a little cottage. It was at the edge of the pond there. He was a Nineown frog that we never met before, and he lived near got in an Orin Norin place that led to the other side. He was not Orin’s friend. He was only a Corip goon, with Aladar’s Corin. He said, “I own this house,” he said to heself. “Maybe I should wander out.” He did out.

He said he was very thick and deep, and own a Orip. Orip was living in a little cottage, at the other side of the horses. He came in this story… he didn’t look like that.

Dragging his sand pit, there was a doors and other thingymajiggies. He wanted them to be without hoppers, and they wanted out. He was looked out. “I shouldn’t do this.” He was very troubled indeed, and he was aching with mad. And he said, “My, I’m just bit annoyed.”

Page 54. They looked outside. Peaceful Corin was living in an Orin Norin place, that led to the other side of the court. It was very nice and deep. Only some orips and some corins lived in the pond. In the pond, they stepped out from the other lake, they goed inside another lake that lead to the other side. It was not very deep and pondy, it was just reading a copper burned babe (??) of books. Books will lead to the other side. It was very readable, to be without a hopper. Without hoppers all dinosaurs live in land and a hout(?) all hosted in the middle. It said, “Hoot hoot, hoot hoot.” Then everybody jumped in back and then didn’t know what it was hooting for that.

Without. Without was very very angry indeed. He lived in a long long village, but no one he knew lived there. He was very angry in the storeroom, because someone locked him up. And there used a handkerchief and knocked him over. Then he was very very angry indeed, but not for long. He stopped and said, “Mype.. Can you do this every day and night?” He started be angrier, then he said “(Very angry voice!) MYPE!!! CAN YOU???”

“Aww… can you do it please? We want to go out, for the night. Can you get it out?”

They started and started. Chapter one. Without.

The started and started and started, until there was no ground, and it shaking… there was Corin and Norin. Indeed he was happy indeed. Very happy, very happy.

“Ah… sorry!”

And very very very… he was very angry indeed. “In one of the store rooms… how did someone lock him up again?”

“AW, sorry!” he said, the one (indecipherable) very angry.

“I knew. I knew this is Norin’s house.”

“Aw, can we go to the Interstate please?”

“Nope! Because there‘s lots of things there, in there. I no go to there before. And the Interstate is very yucky indeed. And very yucky, very yucky. And very annoying, and no one been there before.”

“Aaah… aah… ah! I wander out!” Chapter Three. They Wandered Out.

“Ah, I wandered out, in the Orin (indecipherable). There will be no flowers or no trees, but only corins.” Then not, they stepped into the lake. He goed down the lake, THEN they saw… someone living in the lake. They stepped on him, then he said, “Ouchie, who’s stepping on me?”

“WE ARE!!! Because we want to go to the Interstate.” They stepped on him, another man and another man and another man. So heavy these men.

“Ouchie! They shouldn’t be stepped on. You might not be angry… there might be fun…” then he stepped on them.

“Ah! They stepping on us. What shall we do?”

“I got a lift. We should go.” And they goed and they goed and they goed. Because Kip said, “Hi! I’m dare. I dare to close my eyes because it‘s very noisy and very noisy indeed, and very shouty and someone might see my (indecipherable), the eyes.”

Mmh. So close their eyes, until no fight(?) and…. Chapter Five. Looked outside.

Looked outside was very very angry…

(recording stops here)

More Little Tractor, 2007-09-07

All these stories featuring the little tractor are her own spin on the Ladybird book, The Little Blue Tractor. Unlike her Aladar stories, these are not out of thin air ;)

They didn’t wanted to do it anymore. Only a knight came from the edge, from the box. Then the little tractor was worried and scared, and so cosy. And he snuggled up and said, “Please... I can’t go inside a box again. No. Because I’m just Orin, who was not bad. Can you please come out from your knight suit?”

“My car wants to do anything,” said the little tractor, “can you come with me, cows?”

“No, but I can’t,” said the cows, “because I’m the owner of this place! And I didn‘t want anybody to stop on my door like that. So just keep out,” said the cows. “Moo, without my hurry..”

He kept the hens. Then the hens said, “What do you want?”

“I want my pipe to be filled up with lot of animals.”

“Oh, we can’t.” So they hopped in his little barn and he drove away.

After he wanted the others, the cows want hopped into his barn, then he drove away.

He get the piggies. Then he get the sheep. Then he get the ducks. He was VERY happy with this one, his NEW animals, until the horse… he forgot the horse. He didn’t mind. He get a horse locked in the cage up and he gathered around him. And the horse gathered around him.

“Quack quack, quack quack.” There’s two or more. His mother’s want more. “I want more, you have to hurry to get one of them.” he get one of the sheep, in case it was extra and very large and big. It was like a giant. It was 20 feet tall! He could step on it. He drived and drived until it didn’t came. Didn’t came and “Meh meh meh.” He get one of the other sheeps then. He get a male one. It was a VERY VERY BIG one, then he didn’t came.

“I didn’t know it. (Sad voice) He empty few barn… I shouldn‘t do that.”

“My new highness,” said the man comfortably, and sitting in a chair reading his newspaper. “My peep paper.”

Little tractor said, “I peep with papers. Different. Peeked those new barns. Peek those new barns. I peeked at people that covered the nursery rhyme, my nursery rhymed.” He peeked inside. Someone reading. One of them was reading his nursery rhyme. He peeked inside, then he get inside the very snow winter of the days. He goed inside the house, then the little tractor went off to find his new animals. It was very long to take the, a tractor was holding one of his favourite cars of all. He get his favourite car, then he drived inside, then he goed outside again. It taked too long. “My back!”

“I think one of them will come.” It was piglet. (Shocked exclamation). He stayed for a long time!!!

“Ponk ponk, ponk ponk!” It taked a very long time to go there. It taked a very long time to go there. He goed and goed. And for a second, the little tractor leaved someone behind. It was the sheep. Then the sheep said, “Why he leaving us behind? Hmph!”

He leaved them behind, all the animals behind. Then drive, drove and drove away. And he leaved the barn, the cosy new barn…. the cosy new barn.

The cosy new barn lived in a long long village that led to the other side of the gorge. The grandfather was there. And, “Oh PLEASE!!!!!” shout loud. “Oh.. Porin… it’s DISGUSTING!!!” that was Porin the horse, lived in a long long village. That was his barn.

“Please, oh please, can we go there again?”

“No you shouldn’t. Because this is my house, not your BARN. It’s MY house!” said the little tractor angrily. “Can you hear that? It’s MY house!!”

“My house?…. Boohoo boohoo…”

The COW said… they didn’t say anything. Until the little tractor said something, “My peep… come on Porip, you Orin, yes. Nooo…”

“Oh, ah…” one of them.

SO! The little… the little tractor… The Little Tractor by Ladybird. (To me: Adapted by who? Read this, whose name is this? Me: Toni Goffe)… Toni Goffe.

The Little Tractor, 2007-09-07

This story is her own twist on Ladybird's The Little Blue Tractor.

Ladybird. The Little Tractor. Written by Aladar P. Waters.

Little Fee Fi Fo Fum was terrified to see the noises. So did Little Tractor. Little Tractor saw a lot of things, afraid of that man. “It will be winter after. Wet until the Interstate. Our baby needs some energy.” He just that scared.

“They will be black toed in a second, winter is a cold cold time.” (I decided to embolden quotable quotes :)

“Are you have hay from Ray? We will just come and feed the legs to one of the old thingymajiggies.”

“Honk honk... it’s another state.” Three (indecipherable) went to the other side. Poor little tractor is there. He went to the other side. They see the cows munch things up, (indecipherable). He said, “Cows, can you go to the Interstate with me? I want to catch you. And catch you and put you in my cosy barn. Do you want me to do that?”

“Nope,” said the cows. “We are just munching there, and it’s so hard. Can’t use any of the Interstate with the telephone tone.”

“What is that? You (indecipherable) CAN!” The little tractor run off.

It was the chicken standing and stopped. He said, “Do you want me to go, in the... join me in the barn?”

“Nope! It’s the time for us to eat something.”

“Nice and cosy in our cosy barn.” He go to the other side and said, “Ducks do you want me to get anything else?”

“No! Paak paak, paak paak, paak paak.”

“Sheep!” He went to the other side. “Sheep, another sheep!” He said, “So many sheep until they begin to yell.”

“(Sings) Help helpy help help, helpy helpy help help, helpy help help, helpy help help. HELPY HELP HELP, HELPY HELP HELP HELP, HELPY HELP HELP HELP,” he said again, until there will be no fire.

Until there will be, “QUACK QUACK, quack quack, quack quack, quack quack... feed... feed... feed.” There will be yelping and singing and other noises type of stuff. Until they will be singing other things and there will be the same singing and there will be the other singing again. Until there will be much more things. Twyne(?) left.

“MEH meh meh...”

“Do you want me to get you in my cosy cold barn? Do you want me to do that?”

“No because I’m too big to fit in your cosy little barn. That will be disgusting, I’m big go in the barn, I will be inside your new barn.”

“AW, sorry!” he went to the other side instead. “Chicken, why do you want me to not do anything else in the whole wide world? You not the orange creatures? Why do want me not to do that?”

“Because we want you to leave us here.” So he went off to find the piggies again, until there’s no one. There’s no one didn’t make the man so happy... hey!

The whole wide world in from the other side of the, the other side of the... the world came, and came nearer to him, until there will be no faction(?) but only some Orip, Corin... of it there will be, “I have to go to the Interstate.”

“Just one of it, just one of it.” One of it goed down to fetch one of the, “Chickens, please.”

He goed down and down and deeper into the forest, and closed his hand all together, hopping on he catched it and he put it in the barn, and he catched another, he catched all of them, then he put all of them in the barn. Until there, and the daughter was happy, then they walked in the field. There was his horse. He galloped and galloped until that the little tractor moved slowly down the path with his new friend. He wanted them to stay in the cosy barn, and each of them want to wait there. It was the horse. And each of them want to get a blanket. So they ploughed(?) and one of them want to break it – the horse again. Until each of them they want to break this, and each of them want to break it.

“So terrible! Fresh from the Interstate. Said that was the Interstate, to the hen’s house,” said the little tractor, the wonder of one who got a secret. Won’t answer the secret. He new open secret adventure with his open new friend.

He wanted them to stay in his cosy new barn, and each of them wanted them to don’t do anything. And each of them wanted to do a serpent(?) with it. And each of them want to do nothing.

“Aww… sorry! You can eat that. You can ate it too, you can ate it too. You can ate it too. You can ate it too. You can ate it too. You can ate it too. You can ate it too.”

The end already!

Another Story within the Story, 2007-09-07

The story already started but the recording was way too noisy for me to transcribe before this point. This is another story within the story. I have used two different font colours to distinguish the shell story from the story within the story.

He wanted them to be nice to the other one. “Paak paak, paak paak.”

“All of you too, you shouldn’t do it.” Then the others tapped him and pull apart, then hopped in the barn, then said, “He goed away with the other one leaving behind, a dark orange hill, paak paak.” Then, “Paak paak, paak paak, paak paak.”

There was barking again. There will be bark barking again. And again and again and again, until there will be barking, “Bark bark.”

“Quack quack, quack quack.” Until there will be quack quacking again. Until there will be quack quack and quack quack, “Quack quack! Quack quack, quack quack, quack quack... feed, feed, feed.... quack quack... quack!”

“MEH meh!” The greedy tractor said, “Can you hop into my barn?” “We wouldn’t,” said the sheep, until they were munching each other, until they were being catched.

“I don’t want to eat anybody if they run through with their party, do you want to come with me? Do you want to come with me?” said the little tractor. “No, I don’t want to come with you,” said the horse, smiling. He galloped in the field, eating some, munching some plant’s leaves then on the top of the tree.

“Sorry... do you like this one? Like that one? My Orip, your highness is going in dark, white hill, is going in field for days and days, you saw the moonlight.” He couldn’t stay in growing field, until because it was snowing until he couldn’t feel in some dark copse(?) and got no hill, only some grass and (indecipherable). Some grass and stuff like, some grass was hoarding by the owl. After the house hoarded it, they stopped the wind on it, then they goed and goed until there were some windy cave for the quack quack sound of the birds, of the birds with it.

“My new highness, there will be it... there will be it.” Then they ran off to find the other, other piggies gallop in the field and all, all each of them came and each of them did it. Each of them didn’t want to be cold and dark. (Indecipherable phrase).

“You can gallop with us,” said the little tractor. So the other ones lived happily ever after with the little tractor.

“Thee... it’s almost the end,” said the little tractor, “there will be the end, until adapted by the Wind in the Willow, and adapted by Corin Horse, and adapted by Corin Horse.... and they will be galloped in the fields again. Thanks for coming!”

“Thank you for coming!”

“Bye!”

“Bye!”

“Bye!” (all different voices!)

“It’s The End. Do you like it really much?”

“(Squeaky voice) I like it so much”

“Ssshh! Now I can read... this one, this one, this one and this one and this one and this one and this one.... Ladybird. Adapted by Horin Horsay(?). I like it VERY much, that’s why I’m reading it to you. So... do you want to see what happened next, by the strange bird? Ladybird... do you want to know what happened again?... Adapted by Horin Horsay... Adapted by Horin Horsay.”

“They going to snow after winter,” said the man, the shorter man.

“I think too,” said the little tractor.

“Then let’s go!” So it rain and it freeze with some anklyosaurus(?), until there were whole ground, the whole ground.

“You like it so much? Do you like it?”

“I like it so much,” he said, “because of the piggies.”

“Ya! You like it so much!” said the little tractor, “because why do I like this story so much, because it’s nice, we live here!”

“Yes, because there is green hills... that is why you like it?”

“Yes,” said the piggies, so carefully, leaving one of the packages, pulling out another one and another one and another one, until there were whole ground... until there were bee and byno(?) and peek and peacock and each of anything cows came out of their green hill, “Moo.”

“So much?”

“I like it so much! So I’m reading it. The orange and hills, dealing with the ladybird and the world..”

“Boo!”

“Little bird, please don’t cry.” They scared forever, down from the stars and the sun. It’s D, little day bringing the lovely weather. Yellow. Little bird singing, then see yellow. Orange. Little bird singing near clouds, there orange. (Indecipherable phrase).

“Theeee end. So.... you want to know about the Interstate or something else?” said the cow, normally looking out at the orange hill that led to the bottom. “Do you like this? Do you like to get out in the field, horse?”

Horse said, “I don’t, but only a bit,” said the horse. “Come on,” feeling that she might do stuff like this.

“AWW, don’t talk about that, Ping Porin.”

“Bark bark, bark bark, bark bark, bark bark.”

“It’s cold and cold,” said the little tractor, “where are we?”

“You are at the Interstate,” said one of the ducks.

“Yes, I’m alright,” said the bull. Said the little tractor, “He might shiver.”

“Quack quack, quack quack, quack quack, quack quack... feed.. feed.”

“Open up,” he said, “until there will be no sheep. No sheep but only dog-lamb, until there will be dog-lamb and other masters and one-year and two-years old together. Orin and Tuvoyn(?), are we beginning to die..” he said. “I have only walked away with you. I have also run away with myself.”

“Meh meh meh.” She will shiver. “I want to grab from the (indecipherable),” said (indecipherable).

“I haven’t think about it. Do you like it so much? Do you like it so so much?”

“Is there any biking story?”

“Do you like supper? Anybody? Still for us to eat?”

“We’ll decide later. So... little piggy.... The Little Piggy....So... this story is The Little Piggy.”

“Once upon a time there lived a Wolf with Three Little Piggies.”

“I never knew he arrived!”

“No more... there no more.. they lived happily ever after...”

(Indecipherable mumbling).. this little piggy went to market, this little piggy stayed home, this little piggy had roast beef, this little piggy had none, and this little piggy cried wee wee wee, cried wee wee wee all the way... home.

“Are you trying to run off, away from me?”

“You know that by Wolf and always once upon a time and also nursery times, adapted by Horin Horsay... The three little pigs, adapted by Horin Horsay...”

Corythosaurus writes a story, 2007-09-06**

I can’t get over the complexity of this story. Aladar catches Corythosaurus writing his own book, but in one of Aladar’s own books, and gets mad at Corythosaurus, admonishing him to write his own story in his own book. Corythosaurus proceeds to do so. At the end of it, Aladar congratulates Corythosaurus on writing a good story. She really is working at perfecting this story within the story concept!

ETA: OK, I'm colour-coding the transcription below – I was just told the whole thing is too confusing. Black is when B's talking to me. Navy blue is when she's telling the story/dialogue between Aladar and Corythosaurus, and green is Corythosaurus's story.

“Aladar and the Fonix

Dear old friend... Peek with Corin.... The Dear Old Friend With Aladar That Morning

The Aladar and the Fog and the Fonix

The Aladar and the Fonix”

(Me: what is a Fonix?)

That is his friend, Porip with Aladar

“Illustrations by Aladar T. Waters”

’Dear old friend,’ Corythosaurus was writing one of his own books of all, after he wanted to write to it, their own noises, they are out of time

Aladar was so mad to see in one of his books, writing by Corythosaurus... he wanted them to, him to write his own self

The end!

“Porin lived in a long poem

Chapter.. Chapter One... Porin

Porin was very naughty today, and no one didn’t look of it, and no one did it, but only Onit. Porin was trapped by a Knight, and the others were in the house, and so the Knight couldn’t get in the house but it was too small for it.

‘Oh... maybe I shouldn’t do this without a knight,” he said... to his pine(?)

No time for it to losing, to learn, uhm, to get out from his trap....

Doorway... it was locked, so he can’t get out because the Knight is his prisoner!

And his prisoner got by the Orin of course, without Porin

‘I’m getting some help.... HELP!!!’ he said, ‘HELP’ again, ‘HEEEELP!!!.... HEEEELP!!!.... HEEEELP!!!.... HEEEELP!!!’

And for a second later he said, ‘HEEEELP!!!’ until the whole ground was shaking, with cheers and claps, ‘HEEEELP!!! HEEEELP!!! One of you’, until for a second, ‘HEEEELP!!!!!’, he.. he shouted again for help, until a sudden someone came and helped him

‘HEEEELP!!!’ said the other one, ‘HEEEELP!!!’, until for a second someone helped the other one

Then no one was there either, not in the caves, they took him in the house, then he goed inside.. too”

“GOOD SHOT!” says says Aladar, “Corythosaurus, you you you you saved someone.... but in the night... who was it?”

“It was Corin..... the other Corythosaurus.... YES!” (chuckles)

After the story above, I left the recorder on and conducted a short “interview” with the author J. It was a spontaneous thing, I was really a bit mixed up as to her story characters!

Me: Is Corin the Corythosaurus in the story that Corythosaurus is writing?

B: No

M: Who’s Corin?

B: Corin is another Corythosaurus, he’s not writing... he was in Aladar’s favourite book

M: Oh, Corin was reading Aladar’s favourite book

B: Yes, but.. but it was scary, and Aladar didn’t write his scary book

M: Then what about the first Corythosaurus, what was he doing?

B: He was recording the other one, Corin

M: Oh, so who’s the one who’s the illustrator, is it Corythosaurus or is it Corin?

B: It was... T-Rex

M: T-Rex? Was the illustrator for whose book?

B: Uhm, it was.. it’s Aladar’s book

M: OK, so T-Rex is the illustrator for Aladar’s book

B: Yes

M: Corin is writing his own story... is Corin writing a story?

B: No, the other Corythosaurus

M: Oh, the other Corythosaurus is writing a story

B: Yes

M: And Corin is in the story

B: Yes

M: OK. So now Aladar is writing a book and Corythosaurus is also writing a book. So there are two books right?

B: And... and T-rex too

M: T-rex is also writing a book

B: Yes

M: So there are three books

B: Yes, and..

M: And Corin is? Reading the book..

B: Yes... and Porip

M: Who is Porip?

B: He’s another creature, but I don’t know what is he

M: Is he a dinosaur?

B: No

M: Porip is not a dinosaur

M: Both

B: Yes... Aladar says, “GOOD SHOT!”

M: To who?

B: Corythosaurus, because he saved someone, it was Corin and Porin

M: Did Corythosaurus save someone in the story?

B: Yes, it was Corin and Porin

M: But that was in the story that who was writing?

B: (makes funny noises)

M: Was that... I mean did Corythosaurus really save him, or did he save him in the story only?

B: Only in the story

M: OK

B: GOOD SHOT said Aladar!

M: Hehe, you like that huh?

B: Yes, and Aladar said Good Shot! That he says. (Distracted into pretend play) Ma I’m trying to get up there so Compsognathus and Aladar can come down and sit in there, I’m trying to reach them, it’s too high...
