If you listen to the audio recording of this one while reading the transcript below, I think you'll find it a uniquely enjoyable experience. It's hard to catch the nuances of expression just through reading the transcript, and I think it's hard to catch all she says it you don't read the transcript but only listen to the recording, partly because of her articulation and partly because of the extremes in dynamic/volume range that she uses. I've used some audio compression on the file here to try and reduce this latter effect a little, but since her range is so great, some of her whispers are still too soft to hear and some of her yelling is really very loud :P

Lots of singing in this one! Early July 2007*
I totally cannot recall the context of this recording, but on listening to it while transcribing, it was interesting to discover she'd noticed the MP3 recorder left by her and commented on it. This story contains some excellent examples of her making up her own songs :)

101 Dalmations, early July 2007
Another one that's part of our present backlog of stories on the recorder. She was "reading" this from her 101 Dalmations storybook. Twice when she reached the last page, she just flipped back to the cover again to continue her tale. Such change points are obvious when you read this story below.
Inside and they frightened
Cruella and Pongo
The truck man, is looking for us…
We must find a way to get out
The truck picked out and away all baby dogs
And they didn’t know what to do
And they get on the move
When they take him for a walk
They barked out this message
And they say BITE, INSIDE!
And they barked out this message
And said THAT IS A LOUD BARKING
They heard that and they settled down in the hayloft
And they saw late
They like a diamond in the sky, the others
And he get out a message

About few stolen puppies
Puppies? That is very good
And they free of the… popped down in the hay

Got a great video at last!**
I'm so thrilled - she finally actually "performed" for me in front of the camera! Just before I started recording this she had been sitting at our old broken laptop and pretending to type a story, talking about it as she typed. What you see in the video happened as soon as I got the camera and turned it on. ### is where I can't quite catch exactly what she's saying :P

Once upon a time ### that was called brachiosaurus!
He was walking in the woods
And suddenly he saw carnataur walking by him
And he said, (scary voice) “Hello (throat growls) anybody?” he said 0:45
“No, you cannot” asked brachiosaurus looking at the ### and
(Cuts in with loud snarl) said the carnataur looking at, looking at it like it mean what you can do (snarls)
(Small voice) #### #### ####… “I’m a little baby brachiosaurus!”
And he saw him, there’s a baby brachiosaurus, outside
Where his little mommy go away from her
Aaaat, at the ###, at the ### ###
And he swim a lot
And he will just come
And his friends come!
And he felt, and he saw him
And he felt, and he swam like, and he ran away with his head
And he ran away, go from a CURTAIN thaaaat do in fact oush housh and heesh
(Snarls) said the other carnataur (snarls again)
“Eat you!”
(Small voice) “My pretend ### ### ###”
And they kept away, a open carnataur place!
That they hide and found today
And they looked and saw, they looking outside
Through an open type window
That they opened and someone was in it
“WHO?????”…
“Me!” said t-rex
And the carnataur said “Who please? I was, I was seeing brachiosaurus… so sad
Here am I looking at… looking at…
She, she, she miss her mommy
She don’t know where her mommy anymore”
And the t-rex said “YA! I will help her!”
And they looked outside for herself to help!
And they looked, and they looked outside where she was going
There was nothing by herself
Looking by them!
“That was me!” said t-rex, “Me! ... I’m the other t-rex!”
And the t-rex talked along the way and looked, and saw!
He was alive!
He was alive, he was not dead
And looked outside to an open place
Outside of the window
And looked at the door outside where they have been today
There, there was mommy!
Outside on the ### ###
“Anything about twilight?”
“Twilight??? I don’t have twilight!”
“Let me, I will show you”
And they looked and saw someone brave
And they stopped for a while
And saw this is, this is brachiosaurus… so sad
And they stopped here… why?
So… they looked outside to the edge of the pond
Saw…
So what happened?
They looked at chapter… type
(I think this is her story within the story – remember the context at the beginning of all this – she was actually pretending to be a writer typing a story at first, then she pretended to read the story, but it wasn’t finished yet, so here she continues typing it!)
And they typed, they write, at the edge

Another bunch of short tales, late-June to early July'07
Sorry for the backlog. It's not only that there's a backlog, the backlog isn't recorded well due to her recent changes in storytelling mode, and they've been really hard to transcribe. Her most recent turn of events has been to really and truly dramatize her storytelling, with genuinely different voicings, full-blown expression (volume ranging from the merest whisper to loud yelling) and the occassional little dance, and plenty of made up songs. She's 33 months old now. I've been unable to really transribe these most recent ones, because she's now become aware of the mp3 recorder (long story...) besides the difficulty in recording all these "extras" to the story as well.
Anyway, here's a few more of my attempts at transcription from prior recordings...

A bunch of stories, mid-late June 07
I've got a big backlog of stories on my recorder... been too tied up with work to do as good a job of transcribing and posting as I should... also, since the recorder doesn't save the date info, I'm not exactly sure when each of these was recorded, and also what book she was using as a prop for each. I'll try to clear the backlog and do a better job with future stories.... I've also missed MANY more :( Anyway, here are the first few I've just transcribed last night.
